Printing & Sizing Guide

How to Print and Use PopuTailor PDF Patterns

Getting your digital pattern ready to sew is simple. Follow our guide below to ensure accurate sizing and scale.

1. Supported Printing Formats

  • A4 / US Letter: For standard home printers. Every file features seamless tiling for quick and easy assembly.
  • A0 / Copy Shop: For wide-format printing at your local print shop or online copy service—no taping or cutting required.
  • Projector File: Specially prepared high-contrast grid lines for sewists using digital fabric projectors.

2. Crucial Printer Settings

To ensure your pattern prints at the exact 100% scale:

  • Open the PDF in Adobe Acrobat Reader (free for PC and Mac). Do not print directly from a web browser.
  • In printer settings, set Page Scaling to 'Actual Size' or '100%' (Do NOT select 'Fit to Page' or 'Shrink to Printable Area').
  • Always print the first page containing the Test Square (5cm x 5cm / 2" x 2") first and verify its dimensions with a ruler before printing the entire document.

3. Layered PDF Feature

All PopuTailor patterns include Adobe layers. You can toggle off the sizes you don't need in Adobe Acrobat Reader and print only your specific size(s), saving ink and paper.

4. Seam Allowances

All PopuTailor patterns include standard seam allowances (clearly marked on the pattern pieces and in the instruction booklet), so no manual adding is required.
